Mission Statement
The mission of the Theta Gamma Sigma Foundation is to provide stimulating opportunities and resources that advance education, informed community participation, and career development, with respect for human dignity, understanding and value of service to others;
Our purpose is to create an organization that views itself as “a part of” the general community rather than “apart from” the general community. We believe that each community should be judged on their own merits, rather than its background or affluence…without regard to race, nationality, skin tone or texture of hair. Our fraternity exists as part of an even greater brotherhood which would be devoted to the “inclusive we” rather than the “exclusive we”.
From our inception, the purpose is to deliver services to the general community. Rather than gaining skills to be utilized exclusively for ourselves and our immediate families. We hold a deep conviction that we should return these acquired skills to the communities from which we come. This deep conviction is mirrored in our Fraternity’s motto, “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity”.
The Foundation
The Theta Gamma Sigma Foundation is a federally established 501(c)(3) entity, incorporated under the laws of the California 2015. Inspired by a Fraternity of college educated, professional men, the Foundation recognizes the importance of sustaining a culture of responsible male citizenship with respect and support for families and communities of which they are a part, enabling achievement and success through learning, self-expression, and relationship building. The major purposes of the Foundation are to:
(a) Provide opportunities for youth to achieve excellence in academic and cultural endeavors;
(b) Provide opportunities for minority businesses to have access to capital and to grow to their full potential;
(c) Provide support for initiatives that will improve health care, voter registration and education, and enable forums and conferences for broader understanding of social issues;
(d) Further the educational and career development of Fraternity members and others through seminars, publications and conferences; and
(e) To receive and administer funds and properties of all kinds for such “charitable or educational purposes” as permitted of a 501(c)(3) organization exempt from federal income tax.
The Theta Gamma Sigma Foundation promotes brotherhood, scholarship and service through the following:
• Strengthen and serve proactively the brotherhood, as a supportive resource that positively impacts the Fraternity’s growth and financial solvency.
• Reaffirm and maintain a strong commitment to brotherhood, scholarship and service.
• Ensure that the Fraternity programs are focused and committed to serving humanity.
• Create an environment that respects the dignity and worth of each brother.
• Exhibit integrity and ethical behavior in conducting the Fraternity’s business, serving as a model for all Greek-letter organizations.
• Maintain and improve the Fraternity’s technological literacy, in order to better service its members and the community at large.
• Foster and nurture our constitutional bond with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
• Encourage a closer and mutually beneficial working relationship with fellow Greek-letter organizations, other community service organizations, businesses and government.
• Select leaders who are committed and have demonstrated their ability to lead.
The Theta Gamma Sigma Foundation serves all communities with special emphasis on the African-American male and other members of disadvantaged minority communities.
Theta Gamma Sigma Makes a Difference
Education Council:
This is a “working” education council made up of Brothers who periodically meet or participate via conference call, to assist with program development and implementation, and “flesh out” trending and important topics in education.
Connections to Colleges and Universities
• Assist them with finding ways to recruit students
• Assist them with finding ways to sustain enrollment growth
• Advocate w/Sigma and Zeta parents of high school seniors, to at least consider an HBCU for their children’s education, before making the final decision as to where their children will go a post-secondary education.
Marketing Campaign:
• Participate in a National effort to raise the profile of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. in the Greater Sacramento Area.
• Identify Sigma Brothers via our website, on their positions, and memberships in major National Education Organizations such as:
o American Association of School Administrators (AASA)
o National Education Association (NEA)
o American Federal of Teachers (AFT)
o National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE)
o Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD)
o National Associations of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (NAESP/NASSP)

Web-based surveys will enable us to:
• Speak to the national organizations with impressive numbers of Sigma Men who are members of their organization
• Get Sigma involved with the organizations
• Seek opportunities to lead workshops and seminars
• Have access to the leadership of the organizations and their resources
• Have a voice in these institutions, and
• Have an asset for our profile building efforts
• Identify those brothers (non-educators) in cities and towns across the country that will join with us in the education efforts to implement these initiatives.
School Board Involvement:
Encourage Sigma driven community involvement in Boards of Education across the country. Through the work of the Regional and Chapter Directors and/or Chairman of Education, we will advocate for Sigma involvement in attending board meetings, serving on board committees, become candidates for election to boards, and generally advocating for the education for young people in the schools of the nation.
Our Programs
• Institutionalization of the Sigma Beta Club
• A Beta Club for high school students
• Provide support for students in middle school, extending through high school graduation

Sigma will award (based on funds availability) $50,000.00, Blue Pride Scholarships for individuals who show dedication and leadership in pursuit of their career choice at the year-end conference. These funds will be invested for their career choice, post high school educational fund.
NOTE: Scholarship funds will be provided for Year-to-Year Academic Support – multiple $1,000 academic scholarships, may be given each year.
Establish and maintain a Scholarship Award Depository database: Theta Gamma Sigma Education Committee will collect the number and amounts of scholarships awarded by Fraternity and deposited in a nationalized recognized banking institution.
Achievement and Outcomes
Mentor Minority Male students on career decisions for life
The program is designed to mentor students and parents on the essential decision of what to do with life after high school to:
• Assist in the development of life goals
• Provide cultural awareness of their African American heritage
• Develop skills for life after high school
• Promote the development of good study habits and behavioral skills
• Identify and educate the psychology of good parenting
•At the end of their program participation, students will have developed a clear career path model to follow in their post-high school years.
The Student/Parent Achievement Program is a four-year program that begins at grade nine through graduation.
Without our organization
The community would continue to have a disproportionately high school dropout rate of African American males. This will lead to consequences that are undetermined at this time. However, the prognosis is not good which has the potential to lead to a lower quality of life for those individuals.
Emphasis on our community
It is important to stop the high dropout rate of the African American and disadvantaged minority communities
